Expert Care and Occupational Therapy Services
Caroline Penny Smith Dip COT - Founding Director – Medico Legal Occupational Therapy & Care Expert

Remembering our founding director

Caroline qualified as an occupational therapist in 1990. She started work in the NHS firstly in London, before moving to Yorkshire to work in Leeds and then Dewsbury. Her passion was neurology and neurodisability, mainly with children and young adults.

She dipped her feet into independent practice at the end of the 90’s, and alongside having her 3 daughters, set up her own company which evolved into CPPS Expert Care and Occupational Therapy Limited. Caroline was a treating occupational therapist and an expert witness, who loved the challenge of complex cases.

In founding CPPS, Caroline created a company with an ethos of high-quality compassionate care, delivering creative and solution-driven, client-centred therapy that makes a difference. Caroline built up a team of individuals who were valued and supported to develop.

Caroline will be remembered as a truly kind person who would go the extra mile for clients and colleagues. She knew how to have fun and wanted others around her to be happy and enjoy life too. She was passionate about occupational therapy, and balanced this with the demands of a busy, supporting her daughters to get the most from life.

Sadly, Caroline was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2023, and lost her battle with the disease in January 2024. Caroline will be eternally missed, but the ethos she developed will be her legacy, which will live on in the team’s work supporting clients to meet their goals and making a difference to people’s lives.

At Caroline’s funeral over £5,000 was donated to Pancreatic Cancer UK and St Leonard’s Hospice, York. If you would like to donate then you can do this online through the following links
